Right now it seems about as true as the JWs being the one true religion.

Lining up to kiss the bride is not allowed. Watchtower Question from Readers.
by ThomasCovenant inmany, if not all, of the witness weddings i attended in the last few years had the 'tradition' of the bride and groom and members of the wedding party lined up to greet the guests into the reception room.. it was also a faily common practice to kiss the bride.
congratulations and thanks were exchanged.
the usual pleasantries, thanks for coming etc.. well here is a quote i just found from the watchtower 15th may 1952 page 319-320, questions from readers.

Best way to step down from being a servant
by RayPublisher inhey i'm wondering if anyone can give some good advice on how to step down in the safest way.. i have served as an ms for a number of years, but can't do it anymore.
i know too much i want to fade in the future when i get some family things straightened out.
i can't move right now so that's out unfortunately.. what should i tell the body?

Ray, I have to agree with Billy on this. I made the elders aware of my resignation at least a month before the CO came, which means during the visit I was still a servant.
I believe they discuss a resignation at their elders meeting which is after the MS meeting. Despite this, I was not asked if I would attend beforehand, nor asked why I didn't attend afterwards.
The point? It is YOUR decision. Unless you feel like it's a real job and at least a 2 week resignation process is required, it doesn't matter who wants you to be at that meeting.
Ah, gotta love being a mandatory volunteer.Funny also what the elders said to you at their little meeting with you. Commend, commend, commend! Yea.....it was a little too late for that. The "you have so much potential" line was classic when I was told that.

Trying to Fade, Now they want to interview me on the SAD!!!
by burnedout ini resigned as an elder some time ago, have been working on fading, the wife is getting used to the new 'me' (not stressed, better husband and father, etc.
), been missing a lot of meetings... even received a few statements such as: 'hi burnedout, it's good to see you!!!
last sunday, i took my one of my sons to the local dragstrip to show him the races, oops missed the meeting.

I would accept just to show how indeed God's spirit is active in this org and led the elders/CO to ask you to relate your story despite your current feelings and poor example.
Wait, did I just say holy spirit and org in the same sentence? Damn, I did!

So how do you feel? Still pretty confident you can hold your ground? It seems like you will and I don't think you will regret your decision.
So far, I know I haven't.
Oh yea, good to hear an update.

@ Raging Bull - I added a little 'flavor' to the story about the girl that was baptized at 10. I told my wife during the meeting that the following year, the girl got married! 'Cuz you know, she was so ready to make a life long committment to an organization at that early age that, well, what the hell, might as well get married too!! LOL
My wife just smirked. (She's still a believer.)
